Concerns about rising
cancer skin rates and the damaging effects of excessive
sun exposure has led to a new, safe alternative product
for sun-tan enthusiasts. Solar Health Air Brush tanning,
distributed in Canada by Dermal Spa Sciences promises to
revolutionize the sun-tanning industry and help consumers
look sun-kissed without the health risks associated
with sun-bathing.
Their product is the first of its kind to hit Canada and
offers professional, orange-free results. Simple to use
and applied professionally by a qualified
staff in a number of high end spa facilities across the
province, Solar Health Air Brush tanning, known as Tropic
Mist, is expected to be the wave of the future. Tropic Mist
lasts five to seven days and fades naturally.
The client can achieve a natural golden glow without skin
damage by using Tropic Mist; the client needs only to plan
their tan. Tropic Mist is customized and sprayed on
by a qualified staff member for an even, streak free, golden
tan, and offers days of that healthy tan look.
Anyone who has suffered through self tanning creams that
leave tell-tale signs and appear orange as they fade should
try Tropic Mist. Its the only healthy alternative
to sun-bathing, and can be done quickly for a reasonable
cost and lasts for up to a week.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Solar Health Tanning?
Solar Health by Tropic Mist is the first sunless airbrush
system in Canada. It is fast, effective and easy to use.
It is free from harmful UV rays and will produce and even,
natural looking, healthy tan. Our system and method of application
eliminates streaks, orange hands and feet, blotchy patches
and dirty looking knees and elbows. More importantly; it
will fade naturally.
2. How does it work?
Tropic mist uses an ingredient called DHA which reacts
with the skins own amino acids (just as the sun does,
but without the damage) to produce a golden tan that can
last between 5-7 days. It is the only healthy way to achieve
a tan, without the damaging rays of the sun, or tanning
beds.
3. What kind of results can I expect for my skin type?
Just as you cant force a tan on your skin with the
sun, you should not try to force a darker tan than your
skin will allow with Tropic Mist. Although there is no skin
damage associated with over-exposure of the Tropic Mist,
you can turn slightly orange if too much is applied. The
darker you can tan naturally, the darker you will tan with
Tropic Mist.
4. How long should I expect my tan to last?
Usually the tan will last between 5-7 days. This longevity
of this tan will depend on your skin type and condition.
Sunless tanners only produce colour on the very outmost
layer of your skin, called the epidermis. This layer constantly
sheds and renews itself. To maintain the tan, we suggest
that you keep the skin healthy by exfoliating prior to treatment
and moisturizing daily. We also suggest avoiding, long,
hot showers and baths. Do not rub the skin, nor wear tight
clothing that chafes at the skin.
5. What are some of the difficulties associated with
self tanning products?
Tropic Mist has virtually eliminated most problems associated
with self-tanners, however a few stubborn challenges remains.
If you try to go too dark, too fast you may turn slightly
orange. Dont sit on leather furniture or car seats
after your tanning session. The sweat can turn your feet
yellow or orange. Do not spray over skin that has moisturizer
(especially oil-based) on as it will turn yellow.
6. Are there any known side-effects of self-tanning?
There are certainly no more harmful side-effects to self
tanning than frying in the sun. There have been no side
effects reported with the use of the active ingredient,
DHA. Although we believe this to be true, we do not spray
Tropic Mist on pregnant women.
7. Will chlorine in a pool affect my Tropic Mist tan?
It is not only the chlorine, just the act of being submersed
in water for any length of time, plus the rubbing of the
towels on the skin to dry off that will speed up the exfoliation
process of the skin.
8. Is there any offensive smell associated with Tropic
Mist?
Self tanners of the past were associated with an offensive
smell that would last for the entire day of application.
This was a huge turn-off to the public. With Tropic Mist,
we seriously considered this when developing the solution
and were able to produce a non-offensive, highly moisturizing
solution that will please even the most sensitive skins.
Sometimes, with some body chemistry after 30 minutes or
so, the reaction of DHA with the amino acids can produce
a starchy smell on some people. The good news
that for some unknown reason, no one can smell it but you!
This will disappear with your shower the next day.
9. Is Tropic Mist a sun screen?
Tropic Mist is not, and does not contain a chemical sunscreen.
10. What do I wear for the Tropic Mist season?
You have the option of tanning in a bathing suit or other
comfortable clothing. The appearance of the tan lines can
be minimized by the shifting of the clothing, particularly
if it is loose fitting. Tropic Mist is water soluble, and
will not stain clothing. Any residue left on clothing will
wash out in the laundry. Of course, some clients prefer
a tan without the appearance of tan lines and we suggest
the utmost discretion be used for these requests.
